Motivation...

Eva-ever-after and I walked down to the NorthCountry Fair and Farmers Market this morning. First stop was at Brio for crack coffee. All fueled we began our perusing. I'm a sucker for ceramics and came across an artist whose work I've admired for years. I thought of a great excuse to actually buy a piece this year. This is my new motivation. I'm only allowed to use the mug pictured to the left while working on my thesis.

I have to go where for work?

Last week I was forced to go to the coastal town
of Mendocino for work related reasons. Yes, I was made to spend a day and a half walking around coastal prairie bluffs, coastal wetlands, beaches and worst of all I had to tour coastal dunes. As shown in the photo the weather was horrid.

I was stuck with a group of biologists and botanists who refused to stop discovering rare plants during the tour and wouldn't stop discussing coastal restoration issues.

When I finally had time to take a photo all of the European beachgrass in the background was dead due to restoration efforts. Uuggggghhh! Could my job get any worse?

More fuzzies...

I found another caterpillar walking along the sidewalk near my office today. I looked up to find caterpillar heaven in a pine tree. Pictured on the left from top to bottom is some type of egg sac from which the babies are hatching. A baby caterpillar > even cuter than the adults. And finally, caterpillars creating cocoons. Hopefully I'll see some moths soon. A great day of discovery just outside my office.

As always, you can click on the pictures for a more in-depth look.
